Client Service Representative – Personal Lines Insurance

Location: Fishkill, Pawling, Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck, or Goshen, NY

Compensation: $50,000–$65,000 annually, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday, either 8:30 AM–4:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch

Work Arrangement: Full-time, on-site

About the Role

An established independent insurance agency is seeking Client Service Representatives to join its Personal Lines team. These positions are available at multiple Hudson Valley, New York, offices and offer opportunities for both entry-level insurance professionals and experienced client service specialists.

In this role, you'll help individuals and families manage their personal insurance needs, including policy changes, new quotes, renewals, cancellations, and coverage questions. You'll work closely with clients, insurance carriers, and internal sales professionals to deliver responsive service, maintain accurate records, and build lasting client relationships.

Candidates may qualify for either level based on their personal lines insurance experience:

• CSR 1: Entry-level professionals with 0–3 years of experience.
• CSR 2: Experienced professionals with approximately 3–5 years of experience, including broader account review responsibilities and referral development.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and service a portfolio of personal lines insurance accounts.
• Respond to client calls, emails, and in-person inquiries regarding coverage, policy changes, and new business.
• Prepare insurance quotes, remarket existing policies, and coordinate with multiple insurance carriers.
• Review cancellations and termination notices, determine appropriate next steps, and take action within established timelines.
• Explain coverage options, exclusions, and potential exposures to help clients make informed decisions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client and carrier communications.
• Conduct client reviews and identify opportunities to improve coverage or expand existing relationships.
• Support account retention and new business development by following up on prospects and requesting client referrals.
• Collaborate with producers and colleagues to provide consistent, high-quality service.

Additional responsibilities for CSR 2:

• Conduct reviews across all assigned accounts.
• Prepare quotes in support of non-personal lines producers.
• Proactively generate approximately five client referrals per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license .
• For CSR 1, 0–3 years of experience is welcome; newly licensed candidates may be considered.
• For CSR 2, approximately 3–5 years of relevant personal lines insurance experience.
• Personal lines agency experience for candidates who are not entry-level.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer-focused approach with the ability to explain insurance coverage clearly.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• Comfortable using computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, and agency management systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with Applied Epic and working with multiple insurance carriers is a plus, but training is available.
